Police to implement stricter daytime Oplan Bulabog in Cebu City

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police in Cebu City will implement stricter daytime Oplan Bulabog starting on Monday, January 24, 2022, after several minors were rescued over the weekend for violating health protocols.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, information officer of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said that even though they have noted decrease in overall health protocol and curfew violators for the past weekend, the number of minors increased in count.
According to their data, police here have recorded 805 violators since Friday, January 21 to Sunday, January 23. On Friday, 17 minors were rescued, while 29 were rescued on Saturday, and 48 on Sunday.
Of the 805 violations, 592 fall on failure to follow the curfew ordinance and some were those not wearing face masks.
“Naa tay daghang nakit ang mga batan on nga walay essential nga katuyuan nga naa sa gawas, galaroy-laroy lang gyud. Those will be the subject of grand Oplan Bulabog,” Macatangay said.

With this, Macatangay appeals to parents and guardians to police their children in their respective houses as effective safety measures will only be possible with coordination from the public.
Should there be minors caught outside, they will be brought to the nearby holding facility and their parents would be issued with citation tickets, requiring them to pay P1,000 as fine or do community service.
She further said that they also tap the help of SK officers in conducting information drive.
To further help in decreasing COVID-19 cases in Cebu City, Macatangay also said they are focusing on barangays with many reported cases to ensure limited mobility.
On January 23, the Department of Health in Central Visayas logged 523 new cases in Cebu City bringing the total number to 6, 948.
