Chan favors putting entire country under Alert Level 1
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan is in favor of placing the entire country under Alert Level 1 status.
Chan made the statement after mayors in Metro Manila have requested the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) to place them under Alert Level 1.
The mayor said that such a move would bring back the vibrance of the country’s economy.
Aside also from the declining cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country, Chan said that more Filipinos are also getting vaccinated against the virus.
Currently, Lapu-Lapu City is under Alert Level 2.
“Because most of the people are already vaccinated and some kay naka-booster na. So mao nang nakaubos na gyud ang atong mga kaso, basin paingon na gyud tang mahuman ani,” Chan said.
Under Alert Level 1, all establishments will be back to 100 percent capacity but minimum public health standards set against COVID-19 will still be imposed.
“Well, just for protection, wearing of face mask, mao ma’y importante kaayo, maoy naandan. But sometimes, kung lig-on na gyud kaayo imo immune system, gahi-gahi raman nuon matakdan basta bakunado lang gyud,” he added. /rcg
