BATCH 2007-Chef Chang forced a three-way tie for the early leadership after it defeated Batch 1988-Dewfoam, 67-45, last Thursday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association 14th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.
Howard Haw scored 22 points to lead Batch 2007, which joined defending champion Batch 1999-BMC Hospital Systems/ Hainanese Delights and Batch 1997-Solane iStyle at top top spot in the standings with similar 2-0 (win-loss) cards.
After a scoreless first quarter, Haw went to work in the second period, where he scored eight points. He fired 14 points in the third quarter alone and didn’t score in the payoff period, where Batch 2007 outscored its opponent, 18-6.
In the other game, Batch 2005-Headway Motorcycle Hub broke into the win column by dumping Batch 1998-Kaking, 80-69.
Kent Uy showed the way for Batch 2005 with 18 points.
