A man was killed while another was in critical condition after a motorcycle and a cargo truck collided in barangay Luyang, Carmen town, northern Cebu at past 11 p.m. Saturday.
Arnel Buganutan, 37, of barangay Tangke, Talisay City and the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at a hospital in Carmen.
The backrider Rene Pepito was brought to a hospital in Cebu City due to serious injuries.
Buganutan was heading for Cebu City when he overtook another motorcycle.
He encroached on the opposite lane where the cargo truck driven by Joel Amatong was approaching, and collided with it. Buganutan was thrown several meters away. He sustained severe head injuries.
The truck driver is detained at Carmen police station.
