Pura Luka Vega welcome to visit Lapu-Lapu City, not to perform
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan will not recommend declaring Pura Luka Vega, Amadeus Fernando Pagente in real life, a persona non grata in his city.
Chan said that just like any other tourists, Pagente will be welcomed to visit their city anytime.
However, Chan said that he would not allow Pagente to perform, especially if his act was to imitate Jesus Christ.
Chan said that he too was unhappy with Pagente’s imitation of Jesus Christ.
“Seguro makasulod siya sa atoa kay kita man ang gateway, but dili pwede nga mo-show siya sama sa iyang gihimo sa mga imahen sa santos,” Chan said.
“Dili pwede mopahigayon siya [og perfromance] sama sa gipahigayon niya sa laing lugar,” he added.
Pagente became controversial following the release of a viral video showing him wearing a Black Nazarene-inspired costume while dancing to a remix of the song of Ama Namin (Our Father) in a local bar on July 10.
Several local governments in the country have declared him a persona non grata for his act.
This includes Floridablanca town in Pampanga, Toboso town in Negros Occidental, General Santos City in South Cotabato, Manila City, Bukidnon, Laguna, and Cagayan de Oro and Bohol province.
