DepEd-7 continues extensive preparations for BSK elections
CEBU CITY, Philippines- The Department of Education in Central Visayas (DepEd-7) has continued to prepare for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on October 30.
Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, regional director of DepEd-7, said that the agency has been conducting meetings with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), and their superintendents and supervisors.
“The election officers of the different areas all throughout Central Visayas are already having their meetings, series of meetings with our counterparts, the superintendents and supervisors,” Jimenez said.
DepEd-7 is also waiting for the final list from Comelec for the board of tellers that will serve during the election.
He said that Comelec was looking into some considerations in identifying the board of tellers.
“There are requirements. Might be, especially those teachers who have relatives or the like. Maybe there will be questions as to political affiliations or what. So those are the things that Comelec has to consider,” he added.
Meanwhile, the DepEd-7 chief does not see any problem regarding the conduct of elections in malls.
He added that Comelec just has to ensure the safety of voters and teachers serving the election in malls.
“I think there’s no problem with that as long as the Comelec will identify those malls as safe for our voters and our teachers,” he said. /rcg
