3 fall, P1M-worth of drugs seized
MORE than P1 million worth of illegal drugs were seized and three persons were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in the cities of Cebu and Lapu-Lapu.
A separate buy-bust operation resulted in a shootout between police and a man suspected to be involved in selling illegal drugs in Badian town, southwest Cebu.
Danilo Arcilla was arrested by operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (CAIDSOTF) after he allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer in barangay Pung-ol Sibugay, Cebu City last Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Insp. Eunil Evergonzado, chief of CAIDSOTF, said seized from Arcilla’s possession were four big packs and medium-sized packs of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P1 million.
Arcilla refused to comment on his arrest.
In Lapu-Lapu City, Bebot Godinez was shot by police in the hip after he tried to escape after a buy-bust operation.
Police said Godinez sold a pack of shabu to a police decoy in barangay Maribago but when police showed up to arrest him he tried to speed off on his motorcycle, prompting the policemen to shoot him.
Godinez was taken to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital.
Recovered from Godinez’s possession were 25 sachets and a medium-sized pack of suspected shabu worth P100,000.
In barangay Agus, P300,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs were seized from Brian Igot, who was arrested in a buy-bust past 7 p.m. last Thursday.
Aside from 15 sachets and four medium-sized packs of suspected shabu, Igot also yielded a .38 cal. revolver and drug-sniffing paraphernalia.
In barangay Malihao, Badian, 23-year-old Jerwin Rojas was shot in the leg after he resisted arrest in a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force yesterday morning.
Rojas’ alleged cohort, Joe Español, was also arrested.
A large pack, eight medium-sized and 19 small packs believed to contain shabu worth at least P1 million were seized in the operation.
Insp. Joey Bicoy, who led the operation, said Rojas was about to be handcuffed when he drew a .45 cal. pistol and shot at the police but missed.
Police returned fire to neutralize the suspect.
A 49-year-old man was also arrested after he allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu in barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City past 1 a.m. yesterday.
Confiscated from Benjamin Mallari were one big pack, a medium-sized pack and 2 sachets of suspected shabu worth P20,000, police said.
