Kamikazee’s Jay Contreras amidst Sorsogon issue: ‘I choose love’

Amidst the issue surrounding the Kamikazee band, Jay Contreras, the band’s vocalist, chose “love.”

Kamikazee, one of the noted OPM bands in the country, has been trending lately after it was reported that Governor Boboy Hamor of Sorsogon removed them from the Kasanggayahan Festival stage on Sunday night, October 1, 2023.

Governor Hamor said he chose to send the band home before their scheduled gig at the Casiguran town festival due to “attitude problem.”

“Humihingi ako ng paumanhin [dahil] hindi na matutuloy ang Kamikazee,” the governor said, as seen in a video circulating on social media.  “Wala tayong magagawa. Bayad ‘yon kaso may mga attitude. Pinauwi ko na sa airport.”

(I apologize because Kamikazee will no longer perform tonight. There’s nothing we can do. Their talent fee has already been paid, but they have an attitude problem. I already sent them to the airport.)

While many netizens have been asking questions about the band’s side of the story, Jay posted a message on his Instagram account with the caption: “I choose love.”

A report from “24 Oras” said the governor was angry after Kamikazee declined to take a picture at the new tourist attraction called Thousands Light Roses. With reports from Inquirer.net
