Thief nabbed for stealing valuables, groceries in downtown Cebu City house
CEBU CITY, Philippines – A 28-year-old man is behind bars after being accused of stealing valuables, food, and groceries from a home in Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Cebu City last Monday, October 2, 2023.
The Abellana Police Station (Cebu City Police Station 2) confirmed arresting a certain Joshua Robis Florendo in Brgy. Cogon Ramos last Wednesday, October 3.
Florendo, who is from Manila but resides in Borbon town in northern Cebu, was allegedly the thief who took off several food and grocery items from a house in Brgy. Sta. Cruz on Monday.
The suspect was also caught by the property’s surveillance cameras climbing the fence on the day he apparently committed the crime.
The victim, Emily Luna Noval, sought the help of police when she found out that most of the contents of their refrigerator, such as ready-to-eat and frozen food, had disappeared on Wednesday morning.
Noval also told investigators they lost several personal belongings, including bags and shoes.
The house’s closed circuit television (CCTV), fortunately, had recorded the moments the thief struck, which helped police trace his identity.
Florendo was arrested in Brgy. Cogon Ramos during a hot pursuit operation. The victim, Noval, also confirmed that it was Florendo whom they saw on their CCTV footage.
The suspect is now detained in Abellana Police Station pending for appropriate charges to be filed against him.
