Road rage motorists ordered to pay fines or face legal action
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — The two motorists who were involved in a road rage in Barangay Marigondon on Monday, October 2, were ordered to pay their fines or risk being hailed to court.
Mario Napuli, head of Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Management System (CTMS), said the two road rage protagonists were issued citation tickets for obstruction during their fistfight.
A taxi driver and habal-habal driver were involved in the road rage.
“Ila man gipasagdan ang ilang motor ug taxi atol sa ilang pagsinukmagay, maong naka-cause siya ug traffic,” Napuli said.
He said that they have given them seven days to settle their fine ranging from P500 to P1,000, or else, they will pursue filing a complaint in court against the two motorists.

Earlier, LTO-7 issued a show cause order against the drivers involved, after the incident went viral online.
LTO-7 Regional Director Glen Galario said that the video has reached the office of the LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II.
Galario said the fistfight between the two drivers was alarming, hence the incident must be dealt with immediately since it involves matters about road safety.

With the traffic congestion experienced in Lapu-Lapu City roads due to several road and drainage construction, Napuli advised motorists to control their temper and keep their cool to avoid this kind of incident.
“Dili pod init ang ulo,” he said, adding that motorists may look for alternative routes to avoid being trapped in traffic congestion. /rcg
