THE GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. (GMCAC) donated a school building to Ibo Elementary School in Lapu-Lapu City.

The two-story four-classroom school building worth P3.7 million was turned over last Wednesday by the GMR Megawide officials to Lapu-Lapu City Education officials and Mayor Paz Radaza.

Mayor Radaza expressed gratitude to the management of GMR Megawide. “Rest assured we will help monitor and take care of the building so that the coming generations can still use it,” Radaza told the GMR Megawide.

“This project was born out of a deep conviction to give back to the community where we do business. We hope this will inspire the students to study more diligently as well as the teachers to bring out the best in every child,” said GMCAC president Louie Ferrer.

The turnover ceremony was graced by GMCAC chief executive adviser Andrew Acquaah Harrison, city schools division Superintendent Dr. Eduardo Ompad and Ibo Elementary School principal Dr. Herminia Leyson.

The school building is designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes.

It is equipped with two washrooms complete with sewage and drainage system, fire extinguishers, tables and chairs and electric fans in each classroom.

GMCAC is a private company that manages the terminal operations of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) under a public-private partnership.
