111 Gothong teachers pass Cosap drug tests
All 111 teachers of Don Carlos A Gothong National High School who took a surprise drug test were found negative for illegal drugs.
The unannounced test was conducted last Tuesday, said Dr. Alice Utlang, head of the Cebu City Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap).
Seven non-teaching staff of the school were also found negative for drug use.
However, nine teachers were absent during the exercise so Cosap could not declare the school drug- free, said Utlang.
She said these absent teachers, including 14 teachers from the Abellana National School who were also absent during the surprise drug test of the school recently, will definitely be made to undergo the test.
“As of now only Talamban National High School is considered a drug-free school,” she said.
Talamban, the first public school to undergo the surprise drug test, had all 89 teachers passing the test.
Abellana National School was the second school with 181 teachers taking the test since 14 were absent. The 181 teachers were also negative of illegal drugs.
