A Cebu City police official claimed last Wednesday that theft cases in the city have gone down in the last week of July and first week of August.

Chief Insp. David Señor, head of the Cebu City Police Theft and Robbery Section, said the theft cases in the last week of July went down by 20 percent while the cases in the first week of August went down by 50 percent.

He, however, did not give specific figures of the theft cases for the period.

READ: ‘Police foot patrols have to be sustained’

Señor also attributed the decrease of crime cases to the intensified beat patrolling and the Comprehensive Deployment System (CDS) where policemen doing office work are mandated to render two hours of foot patrol on the streets.
