Local teams shine, bag titles in 13th Thirsty Football Cup

Local squads emerged triumphant in their respective divisions in the final day of the 13th Thirsty Football Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) football pitch yesterday.
This after Cebu’s football powerhouse teams Don Bosco, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), Saint Theresa’s College (STC) and University of San Carlos (USC) bagged different division crowns after three-days of competition in this prestigious meet.
The Bosconians captured a title in the mixed under-11 division by defeating rival SHS-ADC, 1-0, in the final match.
Manned by Don Bosco Team B, Don Bosco defeated San Carlos City, 1-0, in the semifinals to advance to the finals.
SHS-AdC trounced Lahug Elementary School, 1-0, to book a finals seat.
Don Bosco’s Carsten Pumareja was named MVP in the division.
In the girls under-15 division, STC escaped Santa Barbara FC, 3-1, in a shootout after a scoreless draw in regulation.
STC’s Trizia Musni was MVP in the division.
In the girls under-18, SHS-AdC emerged as the best team after accumulating seven points in the league-type format competition.
Finishing at second was San Roque Football Club (SRFC) with five points.
SHS-AdC’s Itsuko Bacatan took home MVP honors.
In the boys’ under-15 division, USC Team A thrashed Don Bosco Team A, 1-0, for the title.
Jose Flores of USC-A was named MVP.
Another local powerhouse, SRFC Vets, topped the girls’ under-23 division after gathering seven points in a league-type competition. The visiting Siliman R.U FC of Dumaguete City finished second with five points.
In the boys’ under-23 division, ERCO FC won over C and L FC by a shootout, 3-1.
ERCO FC’s goal keeper Arvin Perez was named MVP in the division.
Hiroshi FC topped the men’s 38-above division after they nipped Komrads FC, 2-0, in the finals showdown with Rommel Cuizon taking home MVP honors.
