Top two seeds in girls’ 12-under make finals
The top two players in the girls’ 12-under category lived up to their lofty billing as they advanced to the finals of the 21st JRG Gullas Cup.
This after top-seed Tiffany Nocos and second-seed CJ Suson defeated separate foes in the semis yesterday at the Consolacion Tennis Club in Barangay Laray, Consolacion town.
Lapu-Lapu City’s Nocos defeated Kierstein Albofera, 6-1, 7-4, while Liloan’s Suson trounced Nicole Villar, 7-6, 7-6.
Their finals match is slated today.
Meanwhile, 10-under unisex third-seed Mitch Largo advanced to the finals after defeating Ian Lim, 4-2, 4-0.
Largo will go up against the winner of the Suson-Aaron Tabura match. Results of their game were not available at press time.
In the boys’ 12-under division, John David Velez and Cesar Salimbangon forged a semis encounter after defeating separate opponents yesterday.
Velez nipped Largo, 6-2,6-1, while Salimbangon trounced Joseph Geverola, 6-2, 6-2.
Ethan Quiño and Brent Cortes will face each other in the other semis pairing after winning against Francis Plopenio (W.O.) and John Anonat, respectively.
