BOHOLANO lawyer Ingemar Macarine added another shining achievement to his brimming collection by completing the Verde Island Passage on Sunday in another lung-busting open water swim dubbed as “Reef Strokes” in Pico de Loro Cove in Batangas.

Macarine, more popularly known as Pinoy Aquaman together with a band of long-distance tankers, swam seven kilometers from Dorado Cove to Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club in Nasugbu, Batangas

It was Macarine’s 21st successful open water swim, part of an arduous preparation in his bid to swim the English Channel from London to France covering 35k in August.

Macarine considers the English Channel bid as the “Mount Everest” of open water swim. It will be dubbed as the First Red Horse Filipino English Channel Swim.

Last Sunday, Macarine finished the 7k swim in three hours and 31 minutes alongside Edwin Dela Cruz who served as his navigator.

Betsy Medalla and Julian Valencia covered 10.65k in 3:13 while their navigators, Leonardo Justo, Moi Yamoyam and Mikey Villanueva along with Arvel Barredo and Frank Lacson covered 10.2k in 4:51. Benedict Malapas topped 10.5k in 4:15.

“Reef Strokes” was organized by the World Wildlife Foundation in celebration of the World Oceans Day.
