A MAN was killed while two others were injured in separate shooting incidents in Dalaguete and Pinamungajan towns last Thursday.
Virgilio Linares, 40, of Barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete was pronounced dead on arrival at Julio Cardinal Rosales Memorial Hospital in Dalaguete.
He sustained a gunshot wound in the head and body.
PO3 Rodrigo Pio of Dalaguete Police Station, said the victim, a passenger bus driver, had just arrived home around 9 p.m. from work. He went out of the house to buy bread at a nearby store and as he was about to enter his home, the unidentified assailant was there waiting for him.
Linares’ wife told PO3 Pio that she was inside their house when she heard bursts of gunfire and her husband calling for help.
An investigation is still being conducted on the motive of the crime.
In Pinamungajan, two persons were wounded in a shooting and stabbing incident around 4 a.m. yesterday in Barangay Lamak.
Leonardo Ulindang, 26, and his companion Simon Rafols, 23, of Barangay Anislag, Pinamungajan, were brought to the hospital after sustaining gunshot and stab wounds.
SPO3 Joey Macapobre of Pinamungajan Police Station, said the victims, who are both motorcycle-for-hire drivers, were in the area waiting for passengers during the fiesta celebration in the barangay.
Ulindang asked the suspect, identified only as Alex along with an unidentified companion, if they wanted a ride.
But Alex responded by shooting Ulindang, hitting his back. Not content, Alex also pulled out a knife and stabbed Ulindang in different parts of his body.
Rafols came to the rescue but was stabbed by Alex’s companion the abdomen. Both victims were rushed to a hospital in Pinamungajan but were later transferred to Cebu City. The suspects immediately fled after the incident.
