Cesafi to hold basic life support seminar

By: Jonas N. Panerio July 12,2016 - 09:06 PM

TO PROPERLY equip players and coaches alike to handle any untoward incidents in the upcoming season of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi), the league will be having a Basic Life Support Seminar on July 23 at the Cebu Coliseum.

The seminar will be headed by the president of the Philippine Heart Association, Dr. Alex Junia. He will be joined by Dr. Nadith Pe, a cardiologist at the Chong Hua Hospital and Cesafi’s long-time physician, Dr. Rhoel Dejano.

With the recent passing of PBA player Gilbert Bulawan, who collapsed during a practice session with the Blackwater Elite, the issue of basic life support information has never been more significant. It can also be recalled that high school player CJ Servillon also died after collapsing during a game last year.

“This is to let everybody know how to do basic life support (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) so that just in case there is a need for it then they can apply it right away,” said Dejano.

Coaches and players of basketball, volleyball and football teams are all required to attend.
