Chinese govt to extend cooperation in war on drugs
THE Chinese Embassy in Manila said it is willing to cooperate with the national government on the crackdown on illegal drug shipments following the arrest of a female Chinese national found carrying 11 packs of shabu inside her luggage at the Mactan Cebu International Airport Wednesday.
“The Chinese government is firm and severe in drug control and in punishing all drug criminals in accordance with laws regardless of nationalities,” said Li Lingxiao, spokesman of the Chinese Embassy in Manila. He said combating the drug menace is a shared responsibility among all countries in the world.
Lingxiao said the Chinese government recognizes that the crackdown on illegal drugs is a top priority of President Rodrigo Duterte. He said the Chinese government is willing to work on a specific plan of action with the national government in the crackdown on illegal drugs. Zhou is detained at the Aviation Security Unit in Central Visayas pending the filing of charges against her.
