AN alleged drug pusher from Barangay Guadalupe in Cebu City is now facing charges before the Regional Trial Court.

Suspect Arturo Manubag was charged with two violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for allegedly selling suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer and for possessing 185 sachets of shabu weighing 12.51 grams.

The charges were filed last July 26. Both offenses are non-bailable.

According to the affidavit of the arresting officers from the City Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office, their confidential agent reported to them last October 6, 2015 that a certain “Arthur”, later identified as Manubag, allegedly engaged in selling shabu in his rented house in Modesta Street, Sambag 4, Barangay Guadalupe.

The arresting officers, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), conducted a buy-bust operation on the same day.

During the buy-bust operation, Manubag managed to evade arrest.

However, he left behind a box containing 185 sachets of shabu and money in different denominations amounting to P2,150.

The PNP Crime Laboratory later confirmed that the sachets recovered from Manubag contained shabu.

Prosecutor Naruzen Delfin-Lorete of the Office of the City Prosecutor found probable cause to indict Manubag of the charges after he failed to file his counter-affidavit despite subpoena.

Meanwhile, a 47-year-old woman who earlier surrendered through “Oplan Tukhang” was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Toledo police last Wednesday night.

Melodina Dolino was arrested after handing over a small sachet containing alleged shabu worth P200 to police poseur-buyer Gerald Toquero, who led the operation.

PO2 Joselito Genon, desk officer of Toledo City Police Station, said the suspect was forced to go back to illegal activities as she has no other source of income to sustain her daily needs.
Recovered from Dolino’s possession were alleged shabu used in the buy-bust, two medium and seven small packs containing illegal drugs believed to be shabu.
