THE Alegria municipal government advised the public to follow protocol when climbing mountains following the rescue of five hikers who got lost on Sunday morning

The five hikers, two of whom are students, were rescued at around 11 p.m. on Sunday in Sitio Siag, Barangay Montañeza in Malabuyoc.

Mae Listones, Alegria local disaster risk reduction management officer, said the hikers did not coordinate with the barangay officials and had no tourist guide.

“One was unconscious while the rest suffered from hypothermia and dehydration when they were found,” Listones said.

The hikers were immediately brought to the Reinhard Wirtgen Memorial Hospital in Alegria.
