USC spikers to miss national team tryouts

UNIVERSITY of San Carlos (USC) team captain Debbie Mae Gamboa and the rest of the Lady Warriors will miss the tryouts for the Philippine women’s team this weekend here in Cebu.

The Lady Warriors will skip the tryouts since they will be going through extensive training for the upcoming Private Schools Athletics Association (Prisaa) regional meet on Feb. 24 in Tagbilaran, Bohol.

USC was selected to compete in the Prisaa in lieu of the University of San Jose-Recoletos Lady Jaguars, who backed out just this month.

Gamboa confirmed that she won’t be joining the tryouts because of the practices for the Prisaa.

“Most likely my teammates won’t join too,” Gamboa said.
