THE PHILIPPINE Azkals’ second string goalkeeper Roland Muller has announced his retirement from international duties before their 0-0 draw against Malaysia last Wednesday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

Muller, who has been with the Azkals for six years, is known as a back-up goalie for first string keeper Neil Etheridge.

According to a report of the Inquirer, the Fil-German Muller said that he has to focus first on his family and his club Ceres-Negros.

Despite having their big guns Etheridge, Javier Patiño, and Daisuke Sato back to their lineup, the Azkals settled for a scoreless draw against Malaysia in a friendly match in preparation for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifying Tournament.

The Azkals had a couple of chances in the first half courtesy of Phil Younghusband and Patiño but they weren’t able to find the back of the net.
