Davide, Gwen still without a running mate

WHO will be Gov. Hilario Davide III’s running mate in the 2019 midterm elections?

If he will have his way, Davide said he would want Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale as his running mate.

“If I had my way I would have really wanted nga kami gihapon ni Vice Gov,” said Davide who is seeking a third consecutive term next year.

However, Magpale, 76, earlier said that she will be retiring from politics after her term ends due to her age.

“If she decides nga dili na gyod siya (that she will not run), I will not force her. Mangita ta og (We will find) somebody nga over caliber pud,” Davide said.

Meanwhile, Deputy House Speaker and 3rd District Rep. Gwendolyn “Gwen” Garcia, who has repeatedly articulated her desire to gun for the Capitol’s top post in 2019, is also facing a similar dilemma.

Garcia is eyeing to have either 3rd District Rep. Benhur Salimbangon or 1st District Rep. Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. as her running mate.

However, both Salimbangon and Gullas told Cebu Daily News that they have no plans of running for vice governor next year but would just focus on their respective districts.
