The Meralco Bolts will have a souped-up coaching staff in the upcoming 40th season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Former Alaska head coach Luigi Trillo will be joining the Meralco brain trust to serve as an assistant coach to Norman Black, who was plucked out from the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters to replace Ryan Gregorio. Now handling the Tropang Texters is former Meralco assistant coach Jong Uichico.

“Officially joining the Meralco Bolts family. Excited to work with coach Norman Black and the team,” posted Trillo in his Twitter account.

Trillo helped Alaska win the 2012 Commissioner’s Cup crown but in a move that caught many by surprise, he stepped down three games into the Governors’ Cup last season.
