Director Ahmed Cuizon will be vacating his post as regional head of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-7) in October and will return to the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) as assistant general manager.

Cuizon’s transfer will be a homecoming of sorts as he was the agency’s public affairs manager from 1996 to 2010 before taking the helm of LTFRB-7.

“I was interviewed in June and was told of the good news early this month,” he told Cebu Daily News.

Cuizon explained that his transfer is a promotion as the AGM position is a higher-ranked position in the plantilla of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC). The LTFRB and the MCIA are agencies under the DOTC.

Cuizon had earlier vied for the position of regional director of the Land Transportation Office after Raul Aguilos was named undersecretary of the Department of Energy in 2013.

The position eventually went to then assistant regional director Arnel Tancinco.

“I just feel that my mission in LTFRB-7 is already accomplished. We have straightened out things there. No more issues on corruption, fake franchises and anomalies,” he said.

As Cuizon starts his countdown before taking a new step in his public service career, the outgoing LTFRB-7 chief yesterday accepted the dare of an LTFRB-4 staffer for the LTFRB-7 to take the ALS ice bucket challenge.

Accepting the challenge on behalf of the LTFRB-7, Cuizon wore a blue shirt stamped with a Superman logo and had his staff lift him up.

As he does the iconic pose of the comic book hero, another staffer doused him with a bucket of water and iced cubes.

Cuizon and his staff donated $50 to the US-based ALS Association which raises money for Lou Gehrig’s disease research.

“I would also like to emphasize that this is an awareness and fund-raising activity. Donate first before nominating because some forget its real purpose,” he said.

“Medyo ra man ang tugnaw…ang taguktok sa ice cubes sa akong ulo nga dyutay rag buhok maoy mas sakit, hahaha,” he wrote on Facebook.
