Taxi supervisor shoots self: ‘I can’t carry my burden’

A supervisor of a taxi company was found dead at home with a gunshot wound in the head in barangay Tingub, Mandaue City.

Albert Angeles, 39, a native of Zamboanga City left a suicide note.

He asked his children to forgive him for his action, saying he could not bear the problems hounding him.

“Sorry mga anak dili na kaya ni papa ang mga problema naab ot sa akoa mga anak. Pasayloa ninoy ako…. Last hug, kiss, love you ‘nak.”

He also asked his parents in Zamboanga City to forgive him in the letter written in Tagalog and Chavacano.

A few days earlier, the supervisor of VNM Taxi Transport Inc. was reprimanded by the manager over some impounded taxis.

Angeles appeared to be addressing taxi drivers and co-workers when he wrote in his last letter: “Sana honest lang ta sa companiya asa mo na trabaho (I hope we would just be honest to the company that you are working with).”

Angeles body was found bathed in blood in a corner of the room near his two children, aged two and six, who were asleep on the bed at home.

Police said it appeared the man had shot himself with a .45 caliber pistol which was found atop the bed a meter away from his body.

The body was discovered around 6 a.m. Wednesday by Angeles’ 26-year-old brother Anthony, who had gone to the victim’s house across the taxi garage to wake him up to get ready for work and prepare his children for school.

Senior Insp. Jimmy Fortes said that although there were no signs of foul play, the case will still be investigated further.

Explaining the position of the gun, he said it was possible that one of the children had placed the gun on the bed.

Fortes said a suicide letter written on two sheets of bond papers were found in the room.

The victim’s wife Aileen said she was convinced that it was Albert who shot himself. The wife was away at work when the incident happened. Aileen said her husband would not talk about his problems at work.
