CEBU City Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella will serve as acting mayor while Mayor Tomas Osmeña undergoes his regular checkup in Houston, Texas.
Osmeña, who leaves the country at noon today for the US, confirmed to reporters yesterday about his appointment of Labella as acting mayor.
When Osmeña left the country last month to take a vacation in Japan, he jointly designated Labella and acting City Administrator Veronica Morelos as acting mayors.
“I already announced, I thanked Labella for not creating any problems (when I was away last month),” he said.
Asked if he appointed Labella as the sole acting mayor because of the case filed against him at the Ombudsman-Visayas, the mayor said he wasn’t worried about it.
“Labella did not create any trouble the last time, I was expecting the other side “oh you pull out all the cars, pull out this and that,” he said.
Osmeña said he isn’t as paranoid as the last time.
