A resident from Tuburan is seeking the help of the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas in her claim of a lot, where the local government of Tuburan town is constructing a barangay hall and covered court.

Ethel Grace Flores asked the Ombudsman to help her settle with Tuburan Mayor Democrito Diamante the ownership of the lot in Barangay Sto. Nino.

Flores said she owned the lot which is titled since March 7, 2005.

She claimed that despite knowing that the lot was titled the mayor still pursued the government project.

The contested lot measures 58,832 square meters, facing west on the Tañon Strait.

When sought for comment, Diamante said he was ready to face and discuss the issue with Flores.

“She can’t claim that because the area is coastal. The lot was also verbally donated by Tabo-Tabo family,” the mayor said.

The project on the lot is funded by the local government unit with around P2-million budget./
