Mandaue City police will have better capability to respond to alarms, patrol the city’s streets and conduct checkpoints and have more mobility especially in its intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

Senior Supt. Roberto Alanas, acting Mandaue City police chief, cited what they could do with the new police cars during last Tuesday’s turnover of six new police cars by the Mandaue City government to the Mandaue City Police Office.

Alanas said this six double-cab Isuzu D-Max pickups would be distributed to the six police stations in Mandaue City, which are in Centro, Subangdaku, Opao, Basak, Casuntingan and Canduman.

He said the new cars would add to the police multicab and motorcycles of these police stations.

“It is our commitment to do our share to provide support to the PNP because Mandaue City deserves to be safe,” said Mayor Gabriel Luis “Luigi” Quisumbing during his speech at the turnover.

Quisumbing said the budget for the purchase of the vehicles worth P1.038 million each was from the 2016 budget prepared by former Mayor now 6th district Rep. Jonas Cortes.

Aside from that, Quisumbing said the city was also working on upgrading the police’s communication equipment, police allowances and fuel for their vehicles.

“Mandaue City is serious in equipping our police. We want the people to feel safe. We want them to feel part of a productive, safe and progressive city,” he said.

Alanas thanked the mayor and the Mandaue City government and assured that they would take good care of the vehicles.
