A fisherman was found alive at the waters off San Isidro, Leyte province on Monday, a day after he was reported missing.

Agapito Bibat, Philippine Coast Guard Cebu station commander, said 54-year-old Joselito Montana, of Barangay Tapilon in Daanbantayan town went fishing at 7 pm Sunday at the waters off Malapascua Island.

His family in Tapilon reported his disappearance to the PCG substation in Hagnaya, San Remegio at past 8 am Monday.

Bibat said the municipal disaster risk reduction and management council of Daanbantayan received feedback from San Isidro, Leyte stating that Montana was found alive and staying in the barangay chairman’s house near barangay Daja.

Pagasa issued a weather advisory warning against sea travel due to strong winds caused by the southwest monsoon.
