The policeman, who was caught on video mauling and brandishing his gun at a truck driver, showed up at the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) past noon on Tuesday.

PO3 Renato Inot and his cousin, Adelcos Alonzo were accompanied by elements of the City Intelligence Branch of the MCPO who picked them up in Medillen town, northern Cebu after they informed the CIB of their desire to surrender.

As of 12:30 p.m., both were being interrogated by Senior Supt. Roberto Alanas, acting Mandaue police director, in his office.

The cousins went to their hometown in Medellin after they figured in an altercation with a truck driver last Friday along A.C Cortes Avenue in Barangay Looc near the First Mandaue-Mactan Bridge which connects Mactan Island from mainland Cebu.

Inot was caught on video hitting truck driver Crispen Ricarte several times with his fist while pointing his gun at him.

The same video showed that Alonzo pointing a gun at the onlookers while another man wearing a red shirt tried to pacify the two.

The video was posted on Facebook in an effort to identify the two and had become viral since.

The MCPO later identified one of the assailants as one of their own.

Inot didn’t show up for work, prompting Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, police director for Central Visayas, to warn him that he would face additional charges for not reporting for work and insubordination if he continued hiding.

Ricarte already filed administrative charges against Inot.
