Cebuana Olympian Mary Joy Tabal confirmed that she is no longer part of the Philippine national team.

Tabal confirmed this to reporters shortly after giving an inspirational message and lighting the urn in the opening ceremonies of th 21st Milo Little Olympics Visayas Regional finals.

Tabal was reinstated to the Philippine Athletic and Track and Field Association (PATAFA) a month before she competed in the Rio Olympics.

PSC commissioner Ramon Fernandez posted on his Facebook account that Tabal is no longer part of the national team. Tabal said she met Fernandez to discuss the issue before the opening ceremonies of the Milo Little Olympics event.

Tabal and her trainer John Philip Dueñas said they will wait for further instructions from Jonel Borromeo, president of Motorace Philippines which is Tabal’s corporate backer to make statements on the issue.

PATAFA sent an email to Tabal to inform her that she is no longer part of the national team last August 31. Dueñas said he wants Tabal to focus on her future races and training rather than comment on the issue.
