Monday rains cause floodwaters in Mandaue

Monday afternoon rains caused a rise in water level in some parts of Mandaue City.

A landslide was also reported in sitio Pilit, Purok Murado in Barangay Cabancalan. Soil erosion caused a portion of the North Town Homes subdivision to collapse destroying at least six houses.

One of the houses was badly damaged while five others incurred minimal damages, the city’s command center said.

Mandaue City Mayor Luigi Quisumbing immediately proceeded into the area to check on the affected families.

At 2 pm, water level reportedly rose along A. S. Fortuna Street in Barangay Banilad, along the national highway in Barangay Tipolo and along M.L. Quezon Street in Barangay Cabangcalan.

Knee-level flood water near the Cebu Rolling Hills Memorial Chapel in Barangay Banilad made it difficult for vehicles to pass by the area. Flooding subsided an hour after.
