PAMBANSANG Bae Alden Richards has reached another milestone in his recording career: his second album “Wish I May” has earned the Diamond Record status.
The extended play (EP) album of Alden, under GMA Records, has sold 150,000 units, two weeks away from October 17, in time for the “Wish I May” album’s first anniversary since its release.
Alden was given the Diamond Record award, as well as the plaque for the 9x Platinum status in yesterday’s episode of the noontime show, “Sunday Pinasaya,” of which he is one of the hosts.
On his Instagram yesterday, Alden thanked all his supporters and posted a photo of him smiling with the Diamond Record plaque by his side.
“Never in my imagination and wildest dreams na magkakaroon ako ng album na aabot ng Diamond Record. Thank you Lord. Thank you sa lahat ng nagmamahal sa akin. Thank you po. I’m speechless,” wrote Alden.
The feat ranks him alongside other OPM artists like Jose Mari Chan and Nina, who have also reached the elite Diamond Record status. It was a less than a month achievement after Alden received the 8x Platinum Award for the same album.
Released under GMA Records, the album features 11 tracks with three remakes, two original compositions and some song covers.
The song covers include “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran and “God Gave Me You” by Bryan White,” that became the official soundtrack of the Kalyeserye segment of Eat Bulaga where Alden was the lead, the other half of Aldub with Maine Mendoza, formerly known as Yaya Dub.
“I hope this serves to inspire everyone who dreams to venture into music. Don’t be afraid, (have) faith in yourself, in the people who believe in you and faith in the Lord is all you need,” continued Alden on his Instagram post.
“Wish I May” is the second album of Pambansang Bae.
Alden released a self-titled album under Universal Records last May 2013, which earned a Gold Record last year.
Yesterday, he launched his third album (also under GMA Records) “Say It Again” before a jampacked crowd at the Market Market. The carrier single of the new album is “Rescue Me.”
