DORMAKABA snatched its fifth win in a row after demolishing Phoenix, 72-49, in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Club Corporate Cup 2016 last weekend at the Cebu Eastern College gym.
Behind a frenetic defense anchored on the length and size of 6-foot-4 center Jordan Alano, Dormakaba held Phoenix to single-digit scoring in each of the first three periods to build a 58-27 lead heading to the final canto.
Four players scored in double figures for the league-leaders led by the 19 points of former MVP Ed Macasling and the 15 of Alano. Niel Benedicto had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.
Paul Besinga had 14 to lead Phoenix, which fell to 1-4 and into a tie with Fenestram, which got beaten by Olympus in overtime, 61-68.
Brian Acebedo had 18 while Ayi Armenion pitched in 17 for Olympus to get their second win in five games.
Davies Paints, on the other hand, scored a 64-61 victory over Megabond.
