AN officer of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) said the creation of a presidential task force against media killings will show whether the Duterte administration is committed to protecting human rights against extrajudicial killings.

CHR Special Investigator 4 Leo Villarino appreciates the move of PRRD to create the the Presidential Task Force for the violation of right to life, liberty, security for members of the media.

“It will now show the real President Duterte. We will be observing the government’s actions,” said Villarino, who is a resource speaker of the forum entitled Morality, Society: Human Rights and Social Media at the University of the Philippines-Cebu.

Also on hand at the forum was Carlo Andrew Olano, chief community lead of the Cebu Bloggers Community who talked about social media and human rights.

The forum was organized by Paper Plane Productions, a group of fourth year mass communication students behind this year’s UP Cookout 2016
