A certain Michael Lendio, 41 of Barangay Duljo-Fatima, was shot dead at JM Basa Street, Barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City around 9 p.m. on Monday.

PO3 Jerry Jenelaso of the Cebu City Police Office’s Homicide Division reported that Lendio was celebrating his birthday with two friends, a certain “Dexter” and an unidentified man, at a barbecue stall on the sidewalk when the incident happened.

According to an initial report by PO3 Eric Arnido of the San Nicolas Police Station, two suspects on a motorcycle pulled up where Lendio and his friend were drinking then shot Lendio several times in the head, face and body.

Police recovered 7 empty shells–6 empty shells from a 9mm pistol and one empty shell from a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Witnesses recall that one of the suspects was wearing a helmet to conceal his face but could not say whether the other suspect was also wearing one.

According to PO3 Jenelaso, some people they had interviewed at the crime scene speculate that Lendio was involved in a gun-for-hire business. The police have yet to confirm this.
