A large number of motorists were stuck in traffic after a truck’s container van got snagged by a tree branch along Basak San Nicolas early Thursday morning.

The cargo truck was about to park at a garage when its 40 foot container van got snagged by one of the branches of a tree planted on the sidewalk.

The truck got stranded on the outermost lane of the road, causing traffic.

SPO2 Filomeno Viquezo of the Cebu City Traffic Office (CCTO) said the branch dangled and blocked the three lane road and rendered the area impassible.

The fallen branch caused a traffic gridlock that stretched from Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City to Bulacao, Talisay City. The tree was removed before 8 am.
