THE CEBUANO tandem of Arthur Craig Pantino and John Bryan Otico failed to get past the first round as they bowed to the Japanese duo of Takeaki Ito and Kazuki Shimizu, 6-2, 6-1 in the doubles division of the Osaka Mayors Cup-World Super Juniors Tennis Championships 2016 yesterday in Osaka, Japan.
The defeat quashed Pantino’s hopes of winning a title in the tournament as he also lost in the opening round the other day against Yanki Erel, 2-6, 4-6.
Otica, for his part, still has a chance of bagging a crown after he squeezed past Naoki Tajima, 7-6(5), 6-1, to advance to the quarterfinal round of the singles division.
