JAPAN-BASED Boholano slugger Ricky Sismundo showcased precision and power to win by unanimous decision over African Ghislain Maduma in a non-title bout last Saturday night (Sunday morning Philippine time) at the Bell Center, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Sismundo, a native of Ubay, Bohol, improved his record to 31 (13 knockouts) wins, nine losses and three draws.
All three judges favored the Boholano with scores of 97-91,95-93,95-93 after 10 rounds.
This was the second time Sismundo fought in Canada. The 29-year-old’s first fight in Canada against Dierry Jean ended in a draw.
Maduma, who is based in Canada and was the favorite between the two fighters, suffered his third loss. He has 18 wins, 11 by knockout.
Sismundo knocked Maduma down twice in their fight and was able to connect precise combinations and power shots that staggered the latter numerous times.
Sismundo has already fought in Australia, Thailand and Mexico before he transferred to Japan to fight under the Harada Boxing Stable.
