CEBU CITY–An American is now behind bars in Cordova town on Mactan Island after he was arrested on Tuesday afternoon to face charges of child abuse.

Maurice Bass, 54, didn’t resist arrest when policemen went to his house in Barangay Ibabao to serve a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Mandaue City, Cebu.

SPO2 Laurencio Wagwag, desk officer of the Cordova police station said Bass was facing charges for violating the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

When the Cordova police Station received a copy of the arrest warrant issued by Judge Ramon B. Daomilas of RTC Branch 55 in Mandaue, it was served about 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Wagwag, however, said the police station didn’t have the details on the charges filed against Bass.
