REIGNING 40th National Milo Marathon-Cebu Leg 21k women’s champion Ruffa Sorongon dominated the women’s 21-kilometer race of the rain-drenched Gaisano Country Mall 23rd Anniversary Run yesterday.
Sorongon clocked in one hour 31, minutes and five seconds in the race that started and ended at the mall’s grounds.
Taking the top honors in the men’s side was Kenyan Eric Chipsiror, who beat this year’s National Milo Marathon-Cebu Leg 21k men’s champion Rafael Pescos with a time of 1:10.51.
Lizane Abella placed second in the women’s race by clocking 1:32.42 followed by Sandra Soliano at 1:45.51.
Pescos clocked 1:14.22 to finish second while Sorongon’s partner Azlan Pagay claimed third place honors with a time of 1:17.25.
Prince Joey Lee, meanwhile, topped the men’s 15k race with a time of 52:58 while Cresabel Cadion ruled the distaff side at 1:07.21.
Lee’s closest pursuer was Kenyan Douglas Mwiti, who finished in 53:08 while Michael Largo completed the top three finishers at 53:40.
Lovely Andrin settled for second behind Cadion (1:09.38) while Mereeis Ramirez placed third (1:12.11).
Jason Padayao (35:35) and Cherry Andrin (44:44) were the winners in the 10k distance.
