THREE-TIME reigning champions Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles made their way to the finals of the basketball tournament in the 2016 Jesuit Athletic Meet after they manhandled sister squad, Ateneo de Cebu 2, 85-31, in the semifinals yesterday at the Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City.
The Magis Eagles are set to play against the hosts, Ateneo de Davao, in the winner-take-all finals set at 1 p.m today.
Ateneo de Cebu also made it to the finals of the girls volleyball event in the biennial meet that gathers the finest sports teams of the different Jesuit schools in the country, after they trounced Ateneo de Zamboanga, 25-10, 25-22, 25-16 and Davao, 25-15, 25-21, 25-16.
Ateneo de Cebu’s boys football team also defeated Xavier University of Cagayan de Oro, 4-1, as well as Ateneo de Manila, 4-0, to book their spot in the championship game.
Ateneo de Cebu’s girls futsal team was also successful in beating Ateneo de Davao, 6-4, to barge into the finals where they will take on Xavier University.
In table tennis, Gerarn Rona bagged the silver medal in the boys singles event.
