Davide: Only high quality equipment for province

CEBU Gov. Hilario Davide III said his administration will ensure that the province will only procure high quality equipment once they start the pre-bidding process this month.
The governor said this amid concerns by bidders who voiced suspicions that the province will still favor China-made equipment suppliers.
Bidders also questioned why the specifications set by the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) are detailed including specifications on the brand and model of the equipment.
“We have pre-bidding to answer the questions of the prospective bidders regarding the specifications of the equipment that we want. So it’s just right that we will have strict requirements for it since we want the best quality equipment that will be used by the province,” Davide said.
The pre-bidding conference held last Nov. 2 was attended by 11 bidders. “I’m sure that the BAC notes the observations of the prospective bidders. We are just following the procurement law,” Davide said.
The deadline for the submission of requirements for the heavy equipment will be on Nov 14.
