PHILIPPINE Ballet’s star sister act Candice and Carissa Adea were at Cebu Centre for Dance (CCD) on October 21–23 for a three-day workshop on classical ballet and contemporary dance.
The workshop was open to all ballet schools. Students from Ormoc and Cagayan de Oro flew to Cebu to take classes with the multiawarded Adea sisters.
Participants were from CCD, Theater Arts ’N’ Dance (CDO), Ormoc Ballet Center, Basic Arts Center (Minglanilla) and Counter Point School of Ballet and Music.
Candice Adea is the first Filipino to win 1st place in the Helsinki (Finland) Ballet Competition, and silver medal at the 2010 USA International ballet competition. She was a former principal dancer of Ballet Philippines.
She was soloist for the Hong Kong Ballet and a member of Ballet MET in Ohio, USA.
Carissa Adea is also a former principal dancer of Ballet Philippines. She is a Gawad Buhay awardee and was recently recipient of the Asian Cultural Council Philippines Foundation fellowship program.
This enabled her to travel around the USA for six months and participate in dance workshops to learn different styles and techniques.
Cebu Centre for Dance would like to thank the following sponsors of the Adea Sisters workshop: Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, Mayen Angbetic Tan, Maia Franco, Mary Poblete Chan and Tippi Smith.
