It was literally an uphill battle for Cebu City firemen and volunteers when they responded to a fire that broke out in a two-storey house in Upper San George, Barangay Guadalupe yesterday.

The fire that started at 10:45 a.m. took 45 minutes to put out as firetrucks could not negotiate the steep road leading to the burning house. Residents formed a bucket brigade to help firemen, who were putting out the fire using garden water hoses.

FO2 Leo Magallon of the Cebu City Fire Station said the fire caused by faulty wiring originated from the room of Allan Banate, brother of house owner Andrew Banate. Investigators placed the damage at P10,000.
