The Fashion Institute of Design and Arts (FIDA) won this year’s Aboitiz Green Fashion Revolution after they have amassed the lion’s share of special awards during the runway battle held at the SM City Cebu Trade Hall on Saturday night.

It was FIDA’s first time to join the environmental fashion tilt, besting three other participating schools.

Students from FIDA have bagged all the special awards for the Best Clothing Design, Best Accessories Design, Best Bag Design and the Best Footwear Design.

The Best Female Model award was given to Diana Nelson and Best Male Model Award was given to Lawrence Reynolds, both of FIDA.

Meanwhile, the defending champion, the Cebu Institute of Technology University (CIT-U) landed on the second spot, followed by University of San Carlos (USC) and University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R), as second and third runners-up respectively.

This year’s theme is “ECOTOURE: Greener Design for a BetterWorld” that debuted in Manila in January this year.

The creative talents from the four competing schools have used a total of 152 kilograms of repurposed waste material from various Aboitiz business units.

The Green Fashion Revolution was first staged in 2012. Since then, it has been challenging students to create clothing, footwear, accessories and bags that make use of recycled materials and highlight the importance of the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
