Kenyan Abraham Kilimo and Sultan Kudarat’s Ruffa Sorongon once again proved they are the undisputed king and queen of Cebu’s long distance running by grabbing the top male and female titles, respectively in the centerpiece 21-kilometer division of yesterday’s second ThreeSixty Pharmacy Family Run at the Cebu Business Park.

Kilimo and Sultan brought home cash and trophy for their dominating performances in the race which drew a massive field of 2,300 runners.

Three Sixty Pharmacy’s Marketing Manager Nevaline Miranda expressed her elation over the huge turnout despite their short preparation.

The run’s main beneficiary is the Pantawid Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“Our main goal for this race is to promote health and wellness for the family and we’re glad that a lot of the participants were families and groups of friends. We only had a few months to prepare for this and we were worried at first that we might not gather enough runners,” said Miranda. “But we were surprised and thankful at the same time that a lot of runners joined. We will surely continue this race next year and hope to make it bigger,” she added.

Kilimo clocked one hour, nine minutes and 23 seconds in the men’s 21k to win his 10th race this year. Michael Largo finished second in 1:20.40 while Azlan Pagay came in third in 1:20.50.

Sorongon for her part, crossed the finish line in 1:31.14 for her 20th win in local races. She beat Lizane Abella who placed second in 1:31.21 and Keisha Mae Delechos (1:53.40) in ther women’s 21k.

The 12k men’s and women’s winners were Prince Joey Lee (41:29) and Geneda Arquino (55:15). Ariel (20:51) and Jeneciel Saballa (27:21) topped the 6k race while Ronilo Cabilan (11:23) and Riza Bausin (13:40) ruled the 3k division.

Marian Alegado and Vince Lamparas won the kiddies 100m dash while Thea Esma and John Carl Abapo ruled the kiddies 50m dash.

The running event was handled technically by race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE).
