THE DON BOSCO United Football Club (DBUFC) regained the 45-above title after exacting revenge against KN Ferraren, 2-1, in the championship match of the 18th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) football pitch.
DBUFC, composed of former Bosconian booters and alumni, topped the 45-above division in 2013 and 2014 before losing to KN Ferraren in the finals last year.
But the team made sure it got back the crown.
Dean Escabarte logged the first goal for DBUFC in the 27th minute of the first half before KN Ferraren’s skipper Mitsu Tsunakara tied the score via a penalty kick.
In the remaining minutes of the second half, Ypang Baunsit’s free kick coming from a foul found the back of the net to give DBUFC a 2-1 lead.
KN Ferraren didn’t have enough time to recover, giving the title back to DBUFC.
